City of New Smyrna Beach to Celebrate Construction Kick-off
This Friday Sept. 5th at 4:30pm

The City of New Smyrna Beach will be holding a Construction Kick-off ceremony at the location of the New Smyrna Beach Skate Park at 4:30 p.m. on Friday September 5, 2008. This park will be located at the southwest corner of Turnbull Street and Industrial Park Avenue, just west of the New Smyrna Beach Police Station. The new Skate Park will have approximately 7,500 square feet of concrete skate area that will consist of a flow bowl, Jersey barriers, and street elements. The park will cost approximately $391,000 when complete. The City, with the assistance of members of the local skateboarding community, obtained an ECHO Grant through Volusia County in the amount of $224,167 to aid in the construction of the park. Additionally, the City obtained a grant in the amount of $5,000 from the Tony Hawk Foundation. The park’s grand opening is projected to be at the end of February 2009. Refreshments will be provided at the ceremony.
